So on Saturday I got to see some old friends, some people I hardly know, but that I hope I will get to know better, and some new folks. Among this gang where the members of Water Closet Press, Laura Hilton-Smith of Laura Hilton-Smith illustrations and the guys from Darkmook (links to these guys and their work can be found below). This all took place in a nice new city centre pub in Leeds. It was an good and interesting mix of people, illustrators, writers, academics, bartenders, game designers and even a horologists. It was during the ongoing conversations and the flowing beers that we got around to the question of Annotation magazine (it helps that a few of us are involved with this project) land how it plans to work. This got me thinking about the FAQs section which, until now, has remained empty. It has been a missed opportunity so far to inform, with clarity, how the magazine will function and reward those who become involved with this publication. Even though I attempted to remember all the questions and every conversation from that night doubtlessly I will have forgotten little things due to the wondrous fug of alcohol. Those questions that I did remember, plus a few others collected along the way, I have now collated and attempted to answer in the FAQs section of this site. It also struck me that we here at Annotation are, at the moment, staring into an uncertain future full of long nights, hard work and hopefully some fun times (like the night in the pub) before we can happily say that this magazine is where we want it to be but I guess that is why people do these kind of things, not because they are easy but because they are hard.
